” 36.  To the Muslim, before the day of resurrection and the second coming of Christ, there will be “17 fearful signs in heaven” and “8 lesser signs on the earth”.”

Quoted from: http://www.bible.ca/islam/islam-encyclopedia-westerners-need-to-know-list.htm

Unfortunately, the author of the above site does not list the 17 fearful (major?) signs and the 8 lesser (minor?) signs.  Here is what I did find (regarding Muslims’ beliefs of signs before the judgment day arrives) by searching the internet:

Major Signs
The major signs are the seven which are thought to occur closer to the supposed day of judgment.

1. The appearance of Masih ad-Dajjal, Antichrist (not mentioned in the Qur’an)
2. The appearance of Ya’jooj and Ma’jooj (Gog and Magog)
3. The appearance of the Dabbat al-ard (the strange beast)
4. Three huge earthquakes
5. The smoke
6. The rise (Sunni view) or the return from occlusion (Shia view) of the Mahdi to restore Islam
7. The return of Isa (Jesus)* from heaven to assist the Mahdi in restoring Islam

Minor Signs
Muslims believe that these are signs that appear years before the day of judgement.

1. Widespread adultery.
2. Widespread usury.
3. Widespread alcohol use
4. Digging tunnels in Makkah and its structures go mountain high
5. Widespread performance repertoire, songs, singers and dancers.

Other Signs mentioned

1. Fire from the west
2. People fighting over gold revealed by the river Tigris
3. Inanimate objects speaking
4. There will be 50 women for every 1 man
5. The son being the master of the mother
6. The sun appears to be rising from the west: The final sign after which repentance is not accepted.

*However, ‘Isa’ is not Jesus Christ.  Jesus does not assist in the spread of Islam.   It should also be noted that Muslims do not believe that Jesus died on the cross (or was resurrected afterwards).

The ‘Jesus’ that Muslims are awaiting is most likely the one whom the Bible refers to as ‘The False Prophet’.  He will promote ‘The Antichrist’ (who fits the description of the Muslim Mahdi).
